Possible Causes
Stuck or misaligned bucket float, Faulty electronic water level sensor, Dirty or obstructed float chamber, Broken float switch wiring or connector
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing the bucket or accessing internal parts.
Steps to fix E7:
- Remove and reinsert bucket: Pull out the water bucket completely and empty it. Check for cracks or deformation. Reinstall firmly so it seats against the internal switch.
- Check the float: Inside the bucket or in a side chamber, locate the plastic float. Ensure it moves freely up and down. Clean any slime, mineral buildup, or debris that may cause sticking.
- Inspect the float switch/sensor: Behind the bucket area, locate the float switch or electronic water level sensor. Verify that the actuator from the bucket or float properly engages the switch when the bucket is installed.
- Test the switch (if mechanical): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the float switch and test continuity with a multimeter while moving the float. Replace the bucket float switch if it does not change state.
- Check wiring: Ensure the harness from the float sensor to the main board is intact and the connector is seated.
- Replace sensor if needed: If the float mechanism is fine but E7 persists, replace the water level sensor assembly specific to your Black+Decker model.
