Possible Causes

Room temperature or humidity above measurement range, Faulty humidity sensor reading high, Unit placed in very hot, humid area with poor ventilation

Steps:

Improve ventilation: Ensure the unit has adequate clearance and is not in direct sunlight or next to a heat source.
Verify environment: If the room is extremely hot and humid, allow time for the unit to reduce humidity. HI may clear as conditions improve.
Sensor inspection: If HI appears in a normal environment, inspect and, if needed, replace the humidity sensor assembly as described under E3.
