Dehumidifier runs but does not collect water in the bucket

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing panels. Refrigerant system work must be done by a licensed technician.

User-level checks:

• Check humidity setting: Ensure the set humidity is lower than the room humidity. Set to continuous or 30–40% to test.
• Check room temperature: Dehumidifiers are ineffective below about 10–12 °C. Move to a warmer room if necessary.
• Inspect coils: With the cover removed and unit running, carefully feel (without touching live parts) if the evaporator coil becomes cold and may form condensation. If it stays warm, the refrigeration system is not working.
• Listen for compressor: You should hear a deeper humming when the compressor runs. If only the fan runs, the compressor may be failed or not receiving power.

If compressor is not running or coils are not cold:

• Likely causes include compressor failure, refrigerant leak, or a faulty start relay / capacitor. These require professional diagnosis.
• Do not attempt to open sealed copper lines. Contact a qualified service technician to test pressures, locate leaks, and repair or replace the compressor or other refrigeration components.
