DEF
Boneco
Automatic Defrost Mode
Dehumidifier shows 'DEF' and compressor cycles off frequently

Possible Causes
Low room temperature causing coil icing, Restricted airflow across evaporator, Faulty defrost sensor or control logic
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: 'DEF' usually indicates normal automatic defrost operation, not a fault, unless it stays on continuously.
User checks:
- Check room temperature: If the room is below about 10–12 °C, move the unit to a warmer area. Dehumidifiers are less effective in cold rooms and will defrost more often.
- Clean filter and grilles: Ensure the air filter and intake/exhaust grilles are clean to maintain airflow.
- Allow time: Let the unit run for 30–60 minutes. 'DEF' should clear once the coil is defrosted.
If 'DEF' never clears:
- The evaporator temperature sensor may be faulty or mispositioned. Inspect and re-clip it to the coil, or replace it if defective (see E3 entry).
- If the sensor is good, the main control board may be mismanaging defrost and may need replacement by a technician.
