Possible Causes

Failed onboard humidity sensor, Disconnected or damaged humidity sensor cable, Condensation damage on sensor module, Faulty main PCB humidity sensing circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the humidifier from mains power before opening the housing.

Troubleshooting steps:

  • Reset the control electronics: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 clears temporarily and returns, the sensor is likely failing.
  • Locate the humidity sensor: On many BONECO hybrid and evaporative models (e.g., H300, H400, W200), the humidity sensor is mounted near the air outlet or intake, often on a small daughter board or as a plastic-encased sensor on a cable.
  • Check wiring and seating: Ensure the humidity sensor plug is fully seated on the main PCB. Look for pinched or broken wires along the harness path.
  • Inspect for moisture or scale: If the sensor is near the moist air path, mineral dust or condensation can coat it. Gently clean the sensor area with a dry, soft brush. Do not spray water or cleaner directly on the sensor.
  • Test operation: Reassemble the housing, plug in, and run the unit. If E2 persists, the sensor module is likely defective.
  • Replace the humidity sensor module: Order a compatible BONECO humidity sensor / hygrostat module for your exact model. Swap the module, matching connector orientation, and secure it in the same location.
  • If a new sensor does not resolve E2: The main control board’s humidity sensing circuit is likely damaged. Contact BONECO support or a qualified technician for main PCB replacement.
