Possible Causes
Loose fan blade or blower wheel, Debris caught in fan, Worn fan motor bearings, Fan blade hitting housing due to misalignment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off and unplug before inspecting moving parts.
Steps:
- External check: Confirm the unit is on a stable, level surface and not touching walls or furniture that can resonate.
- Open the housing: Access the fan assembly. Look for any foreign objects or broken plastic pieces in the fan area.
- Inspect fan blade/wheel: Check for cracks, missing fins, or wobble. Ensure it is firmly attached to the motor shaft.
- Clean and realign: Remove debris and gently bend any slightly warped plastic away from the blades so they do not rub.
- Spin test: Rotate the fan by hand. It should spin smoothly without grinding. Roughness indicates worn motor bearings.
- Replace parts as needed: Replace a damaged fan blade / blower wheel. If the motor is noisy or has play in the shaft, replace the fan motor.
