Over-Humidification / Control Calibration Issue
Humidifier water consumption is much higher than expected
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Humidity setpoint too high, Faulty humidity sensor reading too low, Unit oversized for room, Continuous mode selected unintentionally
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Steps:
- Check settings: Verify the target humidity is reasonable (e.g., 40–50%). Avoid setting above 60%.
- Disable continuous mode: Ensure the unit is not set to continuous or maximum mode without humidity control.
- Relocate sensor: If the humidity sensor is built-in, avoid placing the unit near drafts or heat sources that can skew readings.
- Compare with external hygrometer: Use a separate hygrometer to check actual room humidity. If the unit’s reading is much lower, the humidity sensor module may be out of calibration and should be replaced.
