Possible Causes
Low ambient temperature, Restricted airflow from dirty filter, Faulty defrost sensor, Low refrigerant charge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the Camry dehumidifier before defrosting. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
Steps:
- 1. Defrost: Turn off and unplug the unit. Allow all ice to melt naturally. Place towels under the unit to catch water.
- 2. Clean airflow path: Wash the air filter and clean the evaporator coil fins with a soft brush and vacuum.
- 3. Check room temperature: Use the unit only within the specified temperature range. In cold basements, consider raising the room temperature.
- 4. Inspect defrost sensor: Ensure the defrost/evaporator NTC sensor is firmly attached to the coil and functioning (see E2/E9 procedures).
- 5. Professional check: If icing recurs quickly despite good airflow and correct temperature, have a technician check refrigerant charge and system performance.
Tip: Running the fan-only mode for a short time after dehumidification can help dry the coil and reduce icing.
