Possible Causes

Blocked air filter or intake grille, Condenser coil clogged with dust, Failed condenser fan motor, Overheating compressor or high ambient temperature

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the Camry dehumidifier before cleaning or servicing. Allow hot components to cool.

Steps:

  • 1. Check airflow: Ensure the unit is at least 20–30 cm away from walls and not enclosed in a tight space. Remove any obstructions from intake and exhaust grilles.
  • 2. Clean air filter: Remove the front filter. Wash with mild soap and warm water, rinse thoroughly, and let dry completely before reinstalling.
  • 3. Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear or side panel to access the warm condenser coil. Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from the fins. Be gentle to avoid bending fins.
  • 4. Verify fan operation: With the covers back on but still accessible, plug in and briefly power on. Confirm the condenser fan motor starts and runs smoothly. If the fan does not run or is noisy, the motor or capacitor may be faulty.
  • 5. Inspect fan capacitor (if fitted): Some Camry models use a run capacitor for the fan. A bulged or leaking capacitor should be replaced with the correct value fan run capacitor.
  • 6. Ambient conditions: Ensure the unit is not used in very high ambient temperatures above the rated spec, as this can trigger overheat protection.
  • 7. Reset: After cleaning and checks, unplug for 10 minutes to reset the protection. Then test again.

Warning: If E4 recurs quickly and the compressor housing is extremely hot, the compressor or sealed system may be failing. This requires a qualified refrigeration technician.
