Possible Causes
Stuck float in water tank, Faulty water level micro-switch, Disconnected float switch harness, Defective electronic water level sensor on some models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the water tank or accessing internal components.
Steps:
- 1. Empty and reseat tank: Remove the water bucket, empty it completely, clean any slime or debris, and reinstall it firmly. Ensure it is fully seated against the internal switch.
- 2. Check float movement: Inside the tank, locate the plastic float. Move it up and down to ensure it is not jammed by dirt or scale. Clean the float chamber with warm soapy water and rinse.
- 3. Test float switch: With the unit unplugged and the tank removed, locate the water level float switch or sensor inside the cabinet where the tank slides in. Manually actuate the switch and listen for a click. Use a multimeter to check continuity when the switch is pressed and released.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the float switch wires to the main PCB. Ensure the connector is secure and not corroded.
- 5. Replace faulty parts: If the switch does not change state electrically, replace the Camry water level float switch or electronic level sensor module, depending on your model.
- 6. Reassemble and test: After replacement, reinstall the tank and power on. The E8 code should clear if the level sensor is working correctly.
Tip: Regularly cleaning the tank and float area prevents slime buildup that can cause false full-tank errors.
