Possible Causes

Low room temperature causing frequent defrost, Evaporator sensor detecting frost, Control logic holding unit in defrost

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: No internal repair is usually required for P1; it is often a status code. Always unplug before opening the unit if you choose to inspect.

Steps:

  • 1. Check ambient temperature: Ensure the room is within the operating range (typically above 5–10°C). Move the unit to a warmer room if necessary.
  • 2. Allow defrost cycle: Leave the unit plugged in and powered on. P1 may clear automatically after the defrost cycle completes.
  • 3. Clean filters and coils: Restricted airflow can cause excessive frosting. Clean the air filter and evaporator coil as described in other entries.
  • 4. Sensor check: If P1 never clears, inspect the evaporator/defrost sensor for proper attachment and operation as in the E2/E9 procedures.

Note: If the unit remains stuck in P1 despite normal temperature and clean coils, the control PCB or sensor may be faulty.
