Possible Causes
Tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse in home panel, Failed power cord, Open internal thermal fuse, Failed main control board power supply
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: If you suspect a short or burning smell, leave the unit unplugged and do not attempt to power it again.
Steps:
- 1. Check outlet: Plug a lamp or tester into the same outlet to confirm power is present. Reset any tripped GFCI outlets.
- 2. Inspect power cord: Look for cuts, burns, or crushed sections. If damaged, replace the entire cord set; do not tape or splice.
- 3. Check home breaker: Reset the breaker or replace the fuse feeding the outlet if tripped.
- 4. Internal fuse: Many Carrier dehumidifiers have an internal fuse on the main board. With the unit unplugged and cover removed, visually inspect the fuse. Replace only with the same type and rating if blown.
- 5. Control board: If the fuse is good and power is reaching the board but there is still no display, the main control board’s power supply may have failed and will need replacement.
