Possible Causes
Room temperature below operating range, Faulty ambient temperature sensor, Control board misinterpreting temperature
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before moving it.
Steps:
- 1. Check room temperature: Many Carrier dehumidifiers are designed to operate above about 41–50°F (5–10°C). If the space is colder, the unit may show F0 and lock out to prevent coil icing.
- 2. Move to warmer area: If possible, relocate the unit to a warmer room and allow it to acclimate for 1–2 hours before restarting.
- 3. Inspect ambient sensor: If F0 appears even in a warm room, inspect and test the ambient thermistor as described under E2. Replace if out of specification.
- 4. Control board check: If the sensor is good, the main control board may be misreading temperature and require replacement.
Note: F0 is often informational; no repair is needed if the unit is simply being used in too cold an environment.
