How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the unit.
Steps:
- Power reset: Unplug the dehumidifier for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug back in and test. If E8 returns, continue.
- Check for surge damage: Remove the rear or side cover to access the main PCB. Look for burnt components, bulging capacitors, or scorch marks.
- Verify stable power: Use a surge-protected outlet. Unstable mains can cause repeated memory errors.
- Board replacement: If E8 persists and there is no simple wiring fault, the main PCB is likely defective. Order a Challenge main control PCB matched to your model and replace it, transferring all connectors one by one to avoid miswiring.
Note: Firmware reprogramming is not typically supported in the field for these units; replacing the board is the standard remedy.
