Possible Causes
Bucket not seated correctly, float stuck in full position, continuous drain hose incorrectly installed causing backflow, faulty bucket full switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before inspecting the bucket area.
Steps:
- Empty and reseat bucket: Remove the water bucket, empty it completely, and reinstall it firmly until it is fully engaged.
- Check float position: Inspect the float inside the bucket. It should rest at the bottom when empty. Free any obstructions and clean mineral deposits.
- Inspect continuous drain setup: If using a hose, ensure it slopes downward continuously to a drain and is not kinked. Backed-up water can lift the float prematurely.
- Test bucket switch: With the unit unplugged, press the bucket switch lever by hand. If the unit runs normally when the switch is held (after re-powering), the float may not be actuating it correctly.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new Challenge bucket full micro-switch or bucket float assembly if either is damaged or unreliable.
