Humidifier or dehumidifier trips the household circuit breaker or blows fuses.

Safety: Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that trips immediately; this indicates a serious fault.

Steps:

• Inspect power cord: Unplug and check for cuts or crushed sections. Replace the power cord set if damaged.
• Check for water ingress: Ensure no water has entered the electrical compartment or PCB area. Dry thoroughly if it has.
• Internal inspection: With the unit unplugged, open the cabinet and look for burnt or melted wires touching the metal frame. Repair or replace damaged wiring harnesses.
• Test motors and compressor: Use a multimeter to check resistance to ground from motor and compressor terminals. A reading near 0 Ω to chassis indicates a short and the component must be replaced.
