Possible Causes

Mineral buildup on ultrasonic transducer, clogged wick filter (evaporative type), blocked mist outlet, low water level in tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the humidifier before cleaning. Do not immerse electrical parts in water.

Steps:

  • Check water level: Ensure the tank is full and properly seated.
  • Clean ultrasonic transducer: For ultrasonic models, remove the tank and gently clean the metal disc at the base with a cotton swab dipped in white vinegar, then wipe with clean water.
  • Replace wick filter: For evaporative models, remove and inspect the wick. Replace with a Challenge humidifier wick filter if it is hard, discolored, or slimy.
  • Clear mist outlet: Check the mist nozzle and outlet for blockages and clean with a soft brush.
