Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor (NTC) on evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness or connector to main PCB, Corroded sensor plug from moisture ingress, Failed analog input circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the Comfee dehumidifier before removing any panels. Do not work on the unit while it is connected to power.

  • Power reset: Unplug the unit for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in and try to start it. Sometimes E1 is a temporary sensor read error.
  • Access the sensor: Remove the water bucket, then remove the front grille and filter. Take off the front or side housing screws to expose the evaporator coil area. The room/ambient NTC sensor is usually clipped to the evaporator fins or mounted near the air inlet with two small wires going to the main PCB.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor leads for cuts, pinches, or corrosion at the connector on the main control board. Reseat the connector firmly.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter set to resistance (ohms), measure across the sensor leads. A typical Comfee NTC will read between 5–50 kΩ depending on room temperature. If it reads open (OL) or 0 Ω, the sensor is defective.
  • Replace if faulty: If the sensor is bad, order a compatible Comfee ambient temperature sensor (NTC) for your exact model. Clip the new sensor to the same location on the coil or bracket, route the wires away from sharp metal, and plug into the same PCB connector.
  • Board check: If a known-good sensor still gives E1, the analog input on the main control board may be defective. In that case, replacement of the PCB is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
