Possible Causes

Shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Broken sensor lead from ice sensor on evaporator, Loose connector between evaporator sensor and main PCB, Failed sensor input circuit on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet. Sharp metal edges are present around the coil.

  • Reset attempt: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes to clear any transient error. If E2 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate evaporator sensor: Remove the bucket and front cover. The evaporator sensor is usually clipped directly to the evaporator coil tubing or fins, often wrapped in a small metal or plastic clip with two wires leading back to the PCB.
  • Visual inspection: Look for a sensor that has fallen off the coil, broken insulation, or corrosion at the clip. Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil surface.
  • Check connection: Trace the sensor wires to the main control board. Unplug and replug the connector several times to clean contacts.
  • Measure resistance: Use a multimeter to measure the NTC resistance at room temperature. Compare to the ambient sensor if they are the same part number. A reading of OL or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new Comfee evaporator temperature sensor (NTC). Clip it securely to the coil in the same location to ensure proper defrost sensing.
  • Control board evaluation: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the main PCB is likely defective and should be replaced as an assembly.
