Possible Causes
Evaporator coil temperature below defrost threshold, Low room temperature causing coil icing, Faulty defrost sensor reading low temperature, Restricted airflow across evaporator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On many Comfee dehumidifiers, P1 is a normal indication that the unit is in automatic defrost mode.
- Allow defrost cycle: Leave the unit plugged in and powered on. P1 should clear automatically after 10–30 minutes when the coil warms up.
- Check room temperature: Ensure the room is within the operating range (typically above 41°F / 5°C). In very cold spaces, move the unit to a warmer area.
- Clean filter and coil: A dirty filter or coil can cause icing. Remove and wash the filter; vacuum dust from the evaporator coil.
- Sensor check: If P1 never clears even in a warm room, the defrost/coil sensor may be faulty. Inspect and test the evaporator temperature sensor and replace if out of specification.
