Possible Causes
Stuck or misaligned float in water level chamber, Mineral buildup on water level sensor, Faulty reed switch or Hall sensor, Damaged wiring harness from float sensor to control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and remove the water tank before servicing. Do not submerge the base in water.
- 1. Confirm water level:
- Fill the Crane water tank to at least the minimum fill line.
- Reinstall the tank correctly so the valve pin fully opens.
- 2. Clean the float chamber:
- Locate the float chamber in the base (usually a small round or rectangular well with a plastic float).
- Lift out the float and rinse it with warm water.
- Use a 1:1 white vinegar and water solution to dissolve mineral deposits in the chamber.
- Ensure the float moves freely up and down without sticking.
- 3. Inspect the float magnet and sensor:
- Check that the magnet in the float is intact and not corroded.
- Inspect the reed switch or Hall sensor near the float chamber for damage or loose mounting.
- 4. Check wiring:
- With the base open (if you are comfortable), verify the small harness from the float sensor to the control PCB is firmly connected and not pinched.
- 5. Test:
- Reassemble, refill, and power on. If E2 remains after cleaning and confirming float movement, the sensor or control board may need replacement.
