Possible Causes
Insufficient water in base reservoir, Blocked air intake vents causing overheating, Failed thermal cutoff or NTC temperature sensor, Excessive scale buildup on ultrasonic transducer causing heat concentration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the humidifier and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes before inspection.
- 1. Check water level and seating:
- Ensure the tank is full and properly seated on the base.
- Verify the tank cap and valve are not clogged so water can flow into the base reservoir.
- 2. Clean the base and transducer:
- Empty the base and wipe out any sludge or mineral deposits.
- Use a soft cloth or cotton swab with white vinegar to gently clean the ultrasonic transducer disc.
- Do not use sharp tools that can scratch the disc.
- 3. Clear air vents:
- Inspect the underside and sides of the base for dust-clogged vents.
- Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to clear vents.
- 4. Inspect thermal sensor:
- If accessible, locate the NTC sensor or thermal fuse near the transducer or heater area.
- Check for loose wiring or corrosion on connectors.
- 5. Test operation:
- Reassemble, refill, and run on low mist first.
- If E3 returns quickly even with proper water level and clean vents, the thermal sensor or control board may be faulty and require replacement.
