Possible Causes
Failed digital humidity sensor module, Sensor cable disconnected from control board, Sensor blocked by dust or moisture, Corroded sensor pins due to condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing any covers or sensor housings.
- 1. Locate the humidity sensor:
- On many Crane models, the RH sensor is behind a small vented grille on the side or rear of the housing.
- Some models use a wired external sensor probe.
- 2. Clean the sensor area:
- Use a soft brush or compressed air to remove dust from the sensor grille.
- Do not spray cleaners directly onto the sensor.
- 3. Check connections:
- Open the housing and trace the small sensor cable to the control PCB.
- Ensure the connector is fully seated and not corroded.
- 4. Dry out condensation:
- If the sensor area is visibly wet, allow the unit to dry completely for several hours in a warm, dry room.
- 5. Replace sensor if needed:
- If E6 persists after cleaning and drying, replace the humidity sensor module with a compatible Crane part.
