Possible Causes
Stuck bucket float, Misadjusted or faulty bucket full switch, Broken float linkage, Control board not responding to full signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and mop up any spilled water to prevent slipping.
- Step 1 – Inspect bucket float: Remove the bucket and locate the float mechanism. Ensure it moves freely and is not obstructed by dirt or scale.
- Step 2 – Test bucket switch: Find the bucket full switch inside the cabinet. Manually actuate it while the unit is running (carefully, with proper insulation) to see if the unit shuts off. Alternatively, test continuity with a multimeter.
- Step 3 – Repair or replace float: If the float is waterlogged or broken, replace the bucket or float assembly.
- Step 4 – Replace switch: If the switch does not change state when actuated, replace it with a Danby-compatible bucket full switch.
When to call a technician: If the control board ignores a working switch, board replacement is required.
