Dehumidifier leaks water onto the floor

Safety first: Unplug the unit before tipping or moving it. Mop up any spilled water to avoid slipping.

• Step 1 – Inspect bucket: Remove the bucket and check for cracks or warping. Ensure the bucket is not overfilled and that it seats firmly when reinstalled.
• Step 2 – Clean drain channel: Look for the small drain outlet where water leaves the evaporator tray into the bucket or hose. Use a pipe cleaner or small brush to clear any slime or debris.
• Step 3 – Check drain hose: If using continuous drain, ensure the hose is securely attached to the Danby drain port, slopes downward with no kinks, and drains to a suitable location.
• Step 4 – Inspect internal hoses (advanced): Remove the cover to inspect internal rubber hoses from the collection tray to the bucket or pump. Tighten clamps and replace any cracked hoses.
• Step 5 – Test for leaks: Reassemble, fill the bucket area with a small amount of water manually, and observe for leaks around joints and fittings.

When to call a technician: If the cabinet or internal plastic tray is cracked, or if leaks persist from the pump assembly, professional repair or replacement may be required.
