Possible Causes
Misaligned bucket, Broken bucket actuator tab, Faulty bucket full switch, Disconnected switch wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting the bucket switch.
- Step 1 – Reinstall bucket: Remove and firmly reinsert the bucket, ensuring it is fully seated and flush with the cabinet.
- Step 2 – Inspect bucket tab: Look for the plastic tab or protrusion on the bucket that presses the bucket switch. If broken or worn, the switch will not be activated.
- Step 3 – Manually test switch (advanced): With the bucket removed and unit unplugged, locate the bucket switch inside the cavity. Press it by hand and listen for a click. Check continuity with a multimeter when pressed.
- Step 4 – Temporary test: For testing only, you can carefully tape the switch in the closed position to see if the unit runs. Do not operate long-term this way, as it disables overflow protection.
- Step 5 – Replace parts: Replace a broken bucket or faulty bucket switch with Danby-compatible parts.
When to call a technician: If the bucket circuit on the control board is faulty, board replacement will be needed.
