Possible Causes
Loose wiring harness between control panel and main board, Corroded connector pins, Damaged display/control PCB, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the control panel or rear cover.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug for 10 minutes, then plug back in. If E6 returns immediately, proceed.
- Step 2 – Access control panel: Remove screws securing the top or front control panel. Carefully lift it to expose the ribbon cable or harness connecting it to the main board.
- Step 3 – Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the harness at both the display board and main PCB. Inspect for bent pins, corrosion, or broken wires.
- Step 4 – Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of water intrusion or condensation on the control boards. Dry gently with a soft cloth and allow time to air dry before reassembly.
- Step 5 – Replace faulty board: If wiring is intact but E6 persists, either the display PCB or main PCB may be defective. Replace the suspected board with a Danby-compatible part, starting with the less expensive display board if uncertain.
When to call a technician: Board-level diagnosis and replacement are best handled by a qualified technician, especially if both boards may be involved.
