Humidifier leaks water from the base

Safety first: Unplug the humidifier and empty water before inspection.

• Step 1 – Inspect tank: Remove the tank and check for visible cracks or damage, especially around the bottom and handle.
• Step 2 – Check cap and gasket: Examine the tank cap and rubber gasket for wear, deformation, or debris. Clean and reseat the gasket.
• Step 3 – Test valve: Fill the tank and hold it over a sink. If water drips from the valve area when the cap is installed, the valve or gasket is leaking.
• Step 4 – Level placement: Ensure the humidifier is on a flat, level surface and not being bumped or tilted during use.
• Step 5 – Replace tank or cap: Replace the tank or cap assembly with Danby-compatible parts if leaks persist.

When to call a technician: Most tank leaks are resolved by replacing user-serviceable parts; professional service is rarely needed unless the base itself is cracked.
