Possible Causes

Loose evaporator sensor connector, Broken or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Faulty control PCB input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit before opening any panels. Coils may have sharp fins—wear gloves.

Step-by-step:

  • 1. Reset the unit: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears immediately, continue.
  • 2. Access the evaporator area: Remove the front or rear housing to expose the evaporator coil (the cold coil where air first passes).
  • 3. Locate the evaporator sensor: Find the small probe clipped or taped to the evaporator fins, connected by a two-wire harness to the control board.
  • 4. Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil surface. If it has fallen off, reattach it using the original clip or aluminum tape so it makes good thermal contact.
  • 5. Inspect wiring and connector: Follow the harness back to the PCB. Reseat the connector and check for damaged insulation or corrosion.
  • 6. Replace the sensor: If the wiring is intact but E2 persists, replace the evaporator NTC sensor with a De'Longhi-compatible part. Install it in the same location on the coil.
  • 7. PCB diagnosis: If a new sensor does not clear E2, the control board's sensor input may be defective and the PCB will need replacement by a service technician.
