Possible Causes
Extremely high room humidity, Faulty humidity sensor reading maximum, Sensor blocked by dust or film, Poor air circulation around sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before accessing the sensor area.
Step-by-step:
- 1. Verify environment: Use a separate hygrometer to check actual humidity. In very wet basements or after flooding, HI may be accurate.
- 2. Improve ventilation: Close windows and doors to the outside but open interior doors to allow better air circulation. Ensure the unit is not placed in a corner where air is stagnant.
- 3. Clean around sensor: Locate the humidity sensor near the air intake grille. Gently brush away dust. Do not spray cleaners directly on the sensor.
- 4. Run continuously: Set the unit to continuous mode (if available) and allow it to run for several hours. If humidity does not drop and HI remains, check for refrigerant or compressor issues (see EC/E9).
- 5. Replace sensor if readings are clearly wrong: If an external hygrometer shows normal humidity but the unit still reads HI, replace the humidity sensor module.
