Possible Causes
Loose fan wheel, debris in fan housing, worn fan motor bearings, loose compressor mounting bolts, vibrating cabinet panels
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before touching moving parts.
- Identify noise source: Remove the front/rear covers and briefly run the unit (keeping hands clear) to locate whether the noise comes from the fan area or compressor area.
- Fan inspection: With power off, check that the fan wheel is tight on the motor shaft and not rubbing against shrouds. Tighten any retaining screws and reposition shrouds if needed.
- Remove debris: Clear any foreign objects from the fan housing.
- Compressor mounts: Inspect the rubber compressor mounts and mounting bolts. Tighten loose bolts and replace perished rubber mounts.
- Panel vibration: Tighten cabinet screws and, if necessary, add thin foam strips between vibrating panels.
