Possible Causes

Open or shorted evaporator NTC sensor, corroded sensor connector, damaged sensor harness, failed main control PCB sensor channel

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect the unit from mains power before opening any panels.

E2 typically indicates a fault with the evaporator (coil) temperature sensor used for defrost control.

  • Access the coil area: Remove the front grille and air filter. On many Devola models, the evaporator coil is directly behind the filter. You may need to remove a plastic shroud to see the sensor.
  • Locate the sensor: Look for a small probe or bead-type NTC sensor clipped or taped to the evaporator fins, with two wires leading back to the main PCB.
  • Check the connection: Follow the wires to the PCB and ensure the connector is firmly seated. Look for corrosion or moisture on the plug and socket; dry gently if needed.
  • Inspect the sensor body: If the sensor is broken, has exposed wires, or has fallen out of its clip so it no longer touches the coil, it will give incorrect readings. Re-clip it firmly to the coil or replace it.
  • Test with a multimeter (advanced): With the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the sensor. Compare to the specification in your Devola service data (typically several kΩ at room temperature). Replace if open or shorted.
  • Replace the sensor: Order the correct "Evaporator NTC Sensor" for your Devola model. Remove the old sensor, route the new one along the same path, secure it to the coil, and reconnect to the PCB.
  • If E2 remains after sensor replacement: The main control PCB may be faulty and may need replacement by a professional.
