Possible Causes

Loose communication cable between display PCB and main PCB, damaged display PCB, damaged main control PCB, oxidized connectors

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect from mains before opening the cabinet.

E6 typically indicates a communication fault between the user interface (display) and the main control board.

  • Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If E6 reappears, continue.
  • Access control area: Remove the top or front panel to access the display PCB and main control PCB (locations vary by Devola model).
  • Check ribbon/cable: Locate the multi-wire harness or ribbon cable connecting the display PCB to the main PCB. Ensure both ends are fully seated and locked. Gently unplug and replug to clean the contacts.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for kinks, cuts, or burn marks on the cable. Replace the cable if damaged.
  • Board inspection: Examine both PCBs for obvious damage (burned components, corrosion from moisture). If the display board is water-damaged (common in humid environments), it may need replacement.
  • Replace faulty board: If reseating the cable does not resolve E6, replace the display PCB first (often the more common failure). If the problem persists, the main control PCB may also require replacement.
