Possible Causes
Shorted compressor windings, seized compressor, faulty compressor start relay or PTC, main control PCB current-sense fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Compressor and mains circuits carry dangerous voltages; if you are not experienced, contact a professional.
E7 often indicates an abnormal compressor current draw or overload condition.
- Visual inspection: Remove the rear panel to access the compressor compartment. Look for burnt wiring, melted connectors, or a burnt smell near the compressor terminals.
- Check start device: Many Devola dehumidifiers use a PTC start relay or start module on the compressor. Remove the start device and inspect for cracks, burn marks, or rattling pieces inside. Replace if damaged.
- Test compressor windings (advanced): With the unit unplugged, remove the start device and measure resistance between the compressor terminals using a multimeter. Compare to Devola service specs. Very low resistance or continuity to ground indicates a shorted compressor.
- Replace start relay/PTC: If the compressor tests OK but E7 persists, install a new Devola-specified compressor start relay/PTC.
- If compressor is shorted or seized: The compressor must be replaced and the sealed system evacuated and recharged. This is a specialist job for a refrigeration engineer.
- PCB fault: If all hardware checks out, the main control PCB current-sense circuit may be faulty and require replacement.
