Possible Causes
Blocked condenser coil, failed condenser fan motor, overcharged or restricted refrigerant system, faulty high-pressure switch (if fitted), main control PCB misreading pressure sensor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit. Refrigerant system work must be done by certified personnel.
E8 is commonly associated with high-pressure or refrigerant protection faults.
- Check airflow and placement: Ensure the unit has adequate clearance and is not placed against walls or in a confined cabinet. Poor ventilation can cause high pressure.
- Clean condenser coil: Access the condenser (warm coil) and carefully clean dust and lint from the fins using a soft brush and vacuum.
- Verify fan operation: Plug the unit back in briefly and observe whether the condenser fan runs when the compressor starts. If the fan does not run or is slow/noisy, replace the condenser fan motor.
- Inspect high-pressure switch (if present): Some Devola models include a pressure switch wired to the PCB. Check its wiring and connectors for damage or corrosion.
- Persistent E8: If airflow and fan are good, the issue may be a refrigerant restriction or overcharge, or a faulty pressure switch/sensor. These require a refrigeration technician to diagnose and repair.
