Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge due to leak, blocked capillary or expansion device, faulty evaporator temperature sensor, main control PCB misinterpreting coil temperature

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Refrigerant handling must be done by certified technicians.

EC often indicates a refrigerant system problem or coil temperature abnormality.

  • Check for icing: Remove the front cover and inspect the evaporator coil while the unit has been running. Heavy ice on only part of the coil can indicate low refrigerant or restriction.
  • Clean filter and coil: Ensure the air filter is clean and the evaporator fins are free of dust. Poor airflow can mimic refrigerant issues.
  • Verify room conditions: Very low room temperatures (below Devola's specified operating range) can trigger EC. Move the unit to a warmer room if necessary.
  • Inspect evaporator sensor: Confirm the evaporator NTC sensor is correctly attached to the coil and its wiring is intact. Replace if damaged.
  • If EC persists: A sealed system problem (leak, restriction, or low charge) is likely. This requires leak detection, repair, evacuation, and recharge by a refrigeration engineer.
