Possible Causes
Low ambient room temperature, Restricted airflow due to dirty filter or coil, Faulty defrost sensor or control, Low refrigerant charge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and allow all ice to melt completely before restarting. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.
Steps:
- Clean the air filter and evaporator coil thoroughly.
- Ensure the room temperature is within the recommended operating range. Avoid using the dehumidifier in very cold basements without heating.
- Check the evaporator/defrost sensor placement and wiring. Replace the defrost sensor if readings are incorrect.
- If icing persists despite good airflow and correct sensor operation, a refrigeration technician should check for low refrigerant or system restrictions.
