Possible Causes

Low refrigerant charge due to micro-leak, Severely dirty evaporator or condenser coils, Failed compressor not pumping correctly

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning or inspection. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system.

Steps:

  • Remove and clean the air filter. Vacuum dust from the evaporator (cold) and condenser (warm) coils using a soft brush attachment.
  • Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for airflow (at least 30 cm on all sides).
  • Run the unit for 15–20 minutes and check if the evaporator coil becomes uniformly cool or lightly frosted. If it remains warm, the compressor may not be running or refrigerant may be low.
  • Listen for compressor operation. If silent while the fan runs, check compressor wiring and start device; replace the compressor start relay/PTC if faulty.
  • If the compressor runs but the coil does not cool and no water is collected after several hours, a refrigerant issue is likely. Contact a licensed refrigeration technician for leak detection and repair.
