Possible Causes
Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Broken sensor harness or connector at main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the unit from mains power before opening any panels. Coil fins are sharp; wear gloves.
Steps:
- Remove the front or rear cover to access the evaporator coil (cold coil). The evaporator sensor is usually clipped or taped directly to the coil tubing.
- Verify the sensor is firmly attached to the coil. If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip so it makes good thermal contact.
- Trace the sensor wires back to the main control board. Check for nicks, crushed insulation, or pulled connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- Test the sensor with a multimeter (resistance should change smoothly with temperature; an open or 0 Ω reading indicates failure).
- Replace the sensor with a Dimplex evaporator NTC sensor if readings are abnormal. Ensure the new sensor is secured to the coil and the wiring is routed away from the fan blade.
- Reassemble the cabinet, restore power, and reset by unplugging for several minutes. Run the unit and confirm the E2 code is cleared.
Note: If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 remains, the main PCB sensor input may be defective and require replacement.
