Possible Causes
Failed digital humidity sensor module, Loose or corroded humidity sensor connector, Damaged sensor cable from front panel to main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the dehumidifier before removing the control panel or front grille.
Steps:
- Locate the humidity sensor, usually mounted behind the front air inlet grille or integrated into the control panel assembly. It may be a small PCB with a slotted or mesh sensor element.
- Remove the front grille/control panel as per the service or user manual. Do not pull hard on ribbon cables.
- Inspect the humidity sensor board and connector for dust, corrosion, or moisture residue. Clean gently with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol if needed.
- Reseat the sensor connector on both the sensor board and the main PCB. Check the cable for kinks or breaks.
- If available, substitute with a known-good Dimplex humidity sensor module or replace with a new OEM part. Ensure correct orientation and secure mounting.
- Reassemble the panel, restore power, and test. Adjust the humidity setpoint and verify that the display responds and the E3 code is gone.
Tip: Avoid spraying cleaners directly into the control panel area; moisture can damage the RH sensor and cause E3 errors.
