Failed onboard humidity sensor, Sensor contaminated by mist or cleaning chemicals, Loose sensor connector on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the humidifier before opening the control housing.
Steps:
- Locate the humidity sensor, usually on a small PCB near the air intake or integrated into the main control board.
- Inspect for visible contamination (white residue, corrosion). Clean gently with a soft brush and isopropyl alcohol; avoid soaking the sensor.
- Reseat the sensor connector or ribbon cable on the main PCB.
- If F4 persists, replace the humidity sensor board or the entire control PCB, depending on how the sensor is integrated in your Dimplex model.
- After replacement, power up and verify that the displayed humidity changes when you breathe near the sensor or change room conditions.
