P2
Dimplex Water Tank Full / Tank Not Seated

Dehumidifier displays P2 and stops; water bucket is full or nearly full

Possible Causes

Full condensate bucket, Misaligned bucket not engaging tank switch, Faulty float or tank full micro-switch, Debris preventing float from moving freely

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn the unit off and unplug before removing the water bucket to avoid spills near live parts.

Steps:

  • Remove and empty the water tank. Rinse it to remove any slime or debris that could interfere with the float.
  • Inspect the float mechanism inside the bucket (if equipped). Ensure it moves freely and is not stuck with scale or dirt.
  • Reinstall the bucket firmly, making sure it is fully seated and flush with the cabinet. Many Dimplex units have a tank full switch that must be pressed by the bucket.
  • If P2 remains with an empty, correctly seated bucket, access the tank switch area. Check that the actuator lever is not bent or broken.
  • Test the tank full switch with a multimeter (should change state when pressed). Replace the bucket full switch if it does not operate correctly.
  • For models with a continuous drain hose, ensure the hose is not kinked or blocked, which can cause the internal tank to fill unexpectedly.
