Possible Causes
Cracked water tank, Worn or damaged tank cap O-ring, Mis-seated tank causing poor seal, Hairline crack in base reservoir
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit immediately and move it away from electrical outlets. Do not operate a leaking humidifier.
- 1. Identify leak source: Dry the exterior, then fill the tank and place it on a sink or tub. Watch for drips from the tank itself. If it leaks off the unit, the tank is cracked.
- 2. Inspect seals: Remove the tank cap and examine O-rings and gaskets for flattening, cracks, or missing sections. Replace any damaged seals.
- 3. Check base reservoir: With the tank removed, pour a small amount of water into the base reservoir and watch for leaks from the underside. If water appears, the base is cracked and must be replaced.
- 4. Correct seating: Ensure the tank is fully seated and locked into place. Partial engagement can cause slow leaks around the connection.
- 5. Do not use sealants: Avoid using glue or sealant on the tank or base; this can contaminate water and is not a reliable repair. Replace the damaged component.
