Possible Causes
Loose fan mounting screws, Foreign object contacting fan blades, Worn fan motor bearings, Resonance due to unstable surface
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before inspecting or moving it.
- 1. Reposition the unit: Place the humidifier on a solid, level surface. Avoid hollow furniture that can amplify vibration.
- 2. Check for loose parts: Gently shake the unit (unplugged) and listen for internal rattles. Inspect the outer shroud and tank for looseness; reseat or tighten any removable covers.
- 3. Inspect vents: Shine a light into the outlet and intake vents to look for foreign objects or broken plastic contacting the fan. Remove debris with tweezers or a vacuum brush.
- 4. Test at different speeds: Run the unit at low and high speeds. If noise is much worse at certain speeds, the fan motor bearings may be worn.
- 5. Persistent loud noise: If noise remains excessive, the fan motor assembly or internal mounts may need replacement by a technician.
