Possible Causes

Faulty compressor start relay or PTC, Failed compressor run capacitor, Control board not sending start signal, Open compressor winding

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and allow the compressor to cool before working near it.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • Check delay timer: Many Electrolux units have a 3–5 minute compressor delay. Wait this period after turning on before concluding it won't start.
  • Listen for clicks: A repeated clicking from the compressor area can indicate a bad start relay or locked compressor.
  • Test start components: Access the compressor terminals and test the start relay and capacitor as described in E6. Replace any defective parts.
  • Measure compressor windings: With power off and wires removed, check resistance between compressor terminals. Infinite or zero readings indicate a failed compressor.
  • Control board output: If the compressor and start components are good, check if the main board is sending voltage to the compressor when it should. If not, replace the board.

Warning: Working around live high-voltage circuits is dangerous; if you are not experienced, contact a professional.
