Possible Causes

Open or shorted ambient temperature sensor (NTC thermistor), Broken sensor wiring harness, Poor connection at main control board sensor terminals, Failed main control board sensor input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the cabinet or touching internal wiring.

Steps to address E2:

  • Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes and plug back in. If E2 returns immediately, proceed with inspection.
  • Locate the temperature sensor: On most Electrolux dehumidifiers, the room temperature sensor is clipped near the air intake grille or on the evaporator coil inlet. It is a small probe or bead sensor connected by two thin wires to the main PCB.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor wires for cuts, pinches, or disconnections, especially where they pass near the fan or metal edges. Repair any damaged insulation and ensure connectors are fully seated on the main control board.
  • Check sensor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the board and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (around 25°C / 77°F), most NTC sensors will read between 5–20 kΩ (consult the service manual if available). A reading of 0 Ω (short) or infinite (open) indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace sensor if faulty: If resistance is out of range or unstable when gently warmed/cooled, replace the ambient temperature sensor (NTC).
  • Control board check: If a known-good sensor is installed and wiring is intact but E2 persists, the main control board sensor circuit is likely defective and should be replaced.

Warning: Do not bypass the sensor; operating without a functional temperature sensor can cause icing or overheating.
