Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. The sealed system is under pressure and contains refrigerant; only certified technicians should open it.
Steps to evaluate EC:
- Visual inspection of coils: Remove covers to inspect the evaporator and condenser coils. Look for oily residue, which can indicate a refrigerant leak.
- Check for frost pattern: Run the unit for 10–15 minutes and observe the evaporator. A normal system will frost evenly then defrost. If only a small section ices or remains warm, refrigerant may be low.
- Clean coils and filter: Ensure both coils and the air filter are clean to rule out airflow issues that can mimic low refrigerant symptoms.
- Verify sensors: Confirm the evaporator temperature sensor is properly attached and functioning (see E3). A bad sensor can trigger EC erroneously.
- Professional service: If EC persists and signs point to a sealed system issue, contact an authorized Electrolux service center. They can perform a leak check, evacuate, repair, and recharge the system.
Warning: Do not attempt to add refrigerant using DIY kits. Incorrect refrigerant type or charge can permanently damage the compressor and is often illegal without proper certification.
