Possible Causes
Full water bucket, Misaligned bucket not engaging float switch, Stuck or damaged float in bucket, Faulty bucket full micro-switch or reed switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before removing the water bucket to avoid spills near live electrical parts.
Steps to clear P1:
- Empty and reseat bucket: Remove the water bucket, empty it completely, and reinstall it firmly so it sits flush with the cabinet. Ensure it is pushed all the way in.
- Check float mechanism: Inspect the float inside the bucket (if equipped). Make sure it moves freely up and down and is not stuck by mineral deposits or debris. Clean with warm soapy water.
- Inspect bucket switch: Locate the bucket full switch in the cabinet (usually a small lever or magnetic reed switch). Press the lever or place a magnet near the reed switch to simulate a properly seated bucket and see if P1 clears.
- Adjust bucket alignment: Ensure the bucket rails are not bent and that the bucket guides properly into the switch actuator.
- Replace switch: If the switch does not change state when actuated, replace the bucket full switch assembly.
Warning: Do not bypass the bucket full safety switch; this can cause water overflow and property damage.
