Possible Causes
Clogged internal drain hose or pump outlet, Failed condensate pump (if equipped), Kinked external drain hose, Faulty internal float switch for pump reservoir
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination; keep the area dry while working.
Steps to resolve P2:
- Check external drain hose: If using continuous drain, ensure the hose is not kinked, elevated above the outlet, or blocked. The hose should slope downward with no traps.
- Inspect internal pump (if equipped): On pump models, remove the rear panel to access the internal pump and reservoir. Check for slime, algae, or debris blocking the pump inlet or outlet.
- Clean reservoir and float: Remove any standing water, clean the reservoir with mild detergent, and verify the float moves freely and actuates the pump switch.
- Test pump operation: With the unit reassembled and powered, pour a small amount of water into the reservoir and observe if the pump activates and discharges water. If not, test the pump for continuity and replace if open or seized.
- Replace float switch: If the float moves but the switch does not signal correctly, replace the pump float switch.
Warning: Always ensure the drain hose terminates in a suitable drain and is secured to prevent leaks.
