Possible Causes
Fan motor seized or obstructed, Fan motor winding failure, Loose fan motor wiring connector, Control board fan driver circuit failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the humidifier before touching the fan or internal wiring.
- Check for obstructions: Remove the top cover or grille to access the fan. Look for debris, wick material, or foreign objects blocking the fan blades. Remove any obstructions.
- Spin the fan by hand: Gently rotate the fan blades. They should spin freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the motor bearings may be failing.
- Inspect wiring: Locate the fan motor harness and ensure the connector is fully seated on the control board. Look for burnt or discolored wires.
- Test after cleaning: Reassemble, plug in, and turn the unit on. If E3 returns and the fan does not start, the fan motor or control board is likely defective.
- Replace the fan motor if needed: Remove mounting screws, disconnect the harness, and install a new OEM Essick Air fan motor assembly. Ensure correct rotation and secure mounting.
If replacing the fan motor does not clear E3, the control board fan driver circuit may need replacement by a qualified technician.
